The second collaboration between Japan’s century-old Hawaiian shirt brand, Pagong, and Windwear.
This collection beautifully blends elements from both Japanese and Thai cultures. The design takes inspiration from the elegance of the Japanese fan (Uchiwa, 団扇), featuring intricate goldfish patterns symbolizing prosperity and harmony. These are seamlessly combined with Thailand’s iconic Betta fish, known for its strength and resilience.
The Story Behind the Fans
Japanese Fan (Uchiwa, 団扇): A significant cultural item in Japan, often given as a lucky charm or summer gift. Traditionally designed with delicate brush strokes, it symbolizes good fortune and prosperity.
Thai Fan: Inspired by the waves of the Andaman Sea, contrasted against floral torch ginger patterns and Batik fabric, representing the rich heritage of Southern Thailand.
Symbolism of Water in the Design
The flowing water motifs on the shirts symbolize the collaboration between the two brands, coming together with a shared vision of creating the finest craftsmanship.
